Acorn Growth Companies (Acorn), a private equity firm investing exclusively in Aerospace & Defense, announced Monday that Steve Sinos has joined the firm as its new Private Equity Associate. Sinos has a background in commodity risk, trading, and private investments, and will be responsible for the firm’s outbound M&A efforts.

“We are very pleased that Sinos has joined our team in the newly created capacity in our mergers and acquisition department,” stated Acorn partner Robert Hinaman, “as he will play an instrumental role within the firm as we continue to grow its Fund IV investment portfolio.”

Prior to joining Acorn, Sinos consulted for Mercatus Energy Advisors, a boutique advisory firm, as well as Wood Mackenzie, a global research and consulting firm. Steve has additionally held positions in derivatives and structured products for Bank of Oklahoma, Goldman Sachs, and Energy Financial Solutions. Sinos has a BBA in finance and an MBA with emphasis on investment and risk management from the University of Oklahoma’s Price College of Business and has studied investment and risk at New York University’s Stern School of Business and Columbia Business School.

Acorn Growth Companies was founded to provide an alternative to the traditional private equity firm interested solely in opportunistic transactions and exit strategies. From the beginning, the firm has maintained its core focus of achieving superior, long-term returns for its investors by investing exclusively in aerospace and defense companies that strive to keep our nation safe and enable global mobilization. The firm’s operational and collaborative philosophy, founded in a relentless drive to create organic value and meet collective objectives with the companies they work with, has enabled it to become the firm of choice amongst the aerospace and defense industry.
